Education

PhD in the Built Environment (University of Washington); Master of Science in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering (University of Washington); Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Oregon State University)

Dr. Anne Anderson is a licensed professional engineer who spent 15 years working in the industry as a structural engineer and general contractor with high profile firms such as KPFF Consulting Engineers, BBFM Engineers, and Skanska USA Building. She also owned and operated her own residential general contracting and residential/commercial structural engineering businesses for several years in the Pacific Northwest. 

She returned to graduate school where she earned a Ph.D. in the Built Environment from the University of Washington in 2015 and spent several years as faculty at Washington State University (WSU), achieving tenure and rank of Associate Professor. In 2017, Dr. Anderson received the Region 7 Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Excellence in Teaching Award. 

She joined the pilipiliÎÛÂþ faculty in 2020 where she teaches Methods & Materials, Advanced Information Technology in Construction, and Building Systems. 

In summer 2023, Dr. Anderson participated in an eight-week full-time residency with BOND Building based in Medford, MA, as part of the AGC/ASC Robert L. Bowen Industry Residency Program working with BOND’s Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) group and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Managers. 

Dr. Anderson advises the Women in Construction student club and the Virtual Design and Construction student club, and coaches the ASC VDC Team that competes annually in Reno, NV, with university teams from all over the U.S. Dr. Anderson has coached the VDC team for eight years, both at WSU and pilipiliÎÛÂþ, with four trips to the podium (placing in the top 3). In 2023, the pilipiliÎÛÂþ VDC team took third place. 

Dr. Anderson's research focuses on increasing diversity in construction management and leveraging technology to improve construction processes.
