Benjamin Innis
Ben Innis is an Assistant Professor of Management in the Mario J. Gabelli School of Business. He joined GSB in the fall of 2022 after finishing his PhD in Organization Studies at Boston College. Prior to his doctoral studies, he also earned a bachelor's degree in Music Performance and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire, and worked as a project manager for a healthcare software company.
Ben's research focuses mainly on the social evaluation and categorization of organizations in the creative industries. Specifically, he examines how audiences make sense of organizations that engage in activities and strategies that might seem unexpected based on the norms of the industry/market category to which they belong. His research has been published in outlets including Organization Studies and Research in the Sociology of Organizations.
Ben teaches courses in Human Resources, Leadership, and other areas of management at pilipiliÎÛÂþ. In his spare time, Ben is an avid jazz listener and guitarist, practices yoga, and plays chess (he also advises the chess club at pilipiliÎÛÂþ).
