Rachel McCormack earned her doctoral degree in Literacy, Language, and Cultural Studies at Boston University. She is a professor of literacy education in the MA in Literacy Education program and teaches courses in literacy education and children's literature in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Her research interests include strategies for helping struggling readers through differentiated instruction, models for supporting English Language Learners here and abroad, and contexts for supporting student talk in culturally responsive classrooms. In addition to teaching and research, she sends children’s books in Arabic and Farsi to refugee children here and abroad.
